Each Olympic Games features a one-of-a-kind torch, and the lighting of the main cauldron is a pivotal moment of the opening ceremony—an important means of showcasing the host nation’s cultural heritage and technological prowess. On February 4, 2022, the 24th Winter Olympic Games were grandly held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou.

Beijing Jinding Sculpture Art Co., Ltd. is deeply honored to have participated in the structural detailing, fabrication, installation, and operation and maintenance of the sculptural designs for the off-site cauldron installations for this Winter Olympics. The project comprises three installations, located in the Beijing Olympic Central Zone, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou, each approximately 11 meters in height and 22 meters in diameter. The overall design was created by the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, featuring a flowing ribbon that connects a large olive-branch wreath, with 96 snowflake motifs linked hand-in-hand arranged at the center of the wreath; each snowflake incorporates the national emblem of the participating country. LED light strips are installed on both sides of the ribbon, while the interior of the olive-branch wreath is illuminated by LED lighting. The entire installation rotates slowly atop a 22-meter-diameter stainless-steel mirrored platform, and under the interplay of light, it presents a dynamic sculptural beauty that is minimalist, unifying, and spectacular.

Beginning in early June and spanning eight months, the Jinding team, guided by the political mandate to stay true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, delivered outstanding results through an art-first approach and meticulous craftsmanship dedicated to creating premium works, thereby fully living up to expectations in the completion of the main cauldron projects in three locations.

In Beijing, the “City of Two Olympics,” Jinding Company has twice participated in the production of Olympic sculptures—first for the 2008 Games and again for the 2022 Games—making it the only sculpture firm to have contributed to both. For the current Games, Jinding has been entrusted with the design, fabrication, and ongoing operation and maintenance of the cauldron, a testament to the high level of recognition and trust placed in us!
